Tapping on acceleration

Hello!

Here's situation:

My engine has about 176,000 on it.

I always let it warm up for 10-15 before I take off.

If I accelerate fast (jolting), I can hear a tapping once I get into higher RPMs (not near redline).

I notice this stops after the first couple jolts.

I think this is just a circumstance of age. Oil not getting to the top of the engine.

I was thinking about replacing the oil pump but those are pricey! I'm not sure if it would make any difference anyway.

mine does the same thing. i am pretty certain its an exhaust manifold to head leak, only on one cylinder. So it sounds like a strange tapping really. One on accel, Quiet on decel and idle and near redline, probably because these things just scream so you dont hear it, lol.

I also thought it sounded more like exhaust.
