Doesn't seem there is much activity on this forum anymore but your'e not alone. I am picking up an AFC 12 valve from a local salvage yard tomorrow to rebuild for my car.
I'll be making a thread about it when I get on the move with it, and I'll be watching yours as well. Information seems to be scattered for these 12 valves so if you run into anything I have lots of part numbers for gaskets, replacement parts, etc from the dealership, victor reinz, etc. I also have a lot of specs and such saved as well. Don't be afraid to shoot me a PM if your having a hard time finding anything. I've made enough calls and done enough research preparing to rebuild this thing that it would put a warm fuzzy feeling in me to save someone else that trouble!!!

I just did one this fall. I bought a 94 cabriolet with a bad engine and swapped in a junkyard one. If you guys need anything I have just about an entire engine in my basement. It's AAH though so the oil pans and EM are different.

Do you know if an AAH code 2.8l engine from a FWD 93 100 will fit drop directly into my 92 100cs quattro wagon?

The engines are both AAH. They're exactly the same.
The only problem you'll have is the flex plate bushing on the crankshaft of the engine from the auto trans car. See this thread for details... http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2594499

If they're both auto it's plug and play
