Lucas Oil Trans Fix in '01 A6?
I emailed Lucas Oil to ask them if their trans fix fluid would be compatible with the fluid in my 2001 A6, and they took about a day to get back to me. In the meantime I looked around some forums and saw some people using it with success, but then I got the reply from Lucas Oil:
"No. That's a unique fluid. What we do have is our Automatic
transmission fluid conditioner. It will blend with that fluid."
What do you think? Any experience with this? I'm trying to fix a MINOR slip/slightly slow (hesitant feeling) shift that happens under moderate acceleration. Is the conditioner going to help that? Should I just suck it up & change the fluid all together? (I'm trying to get away without spending more than I have to cause I'm selling it soon, but I don't want to leave a problem for the new owner.)

this is no ford or toyota to try additives on. the transmission is very sensitive to the fluid in it. if your tranny is slipping and you have not done a fluid change try that.
if that doesnt help then your torque converter is probably on its way out or your tranny might need a rebuild.
when you change the fluid buy the fluid from audi so you get the good stuff.

Agree with posters down the thread. No. Just No. Either drop the pan and clean it and change the filter and refill (proper procedure..it's not a backyard drill without a vag-com or some risk with getting the temperature of the fluid correct) with ZF LifeGuard5 fluid or peddle the car as is.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was afraid I'd hear just that. I don't really know much about the history on the car beyond the last 3-4,000 miles. It wouldn't surprise me if it's never been done & it's coming up on 160,000 miles. Has anyone tried the ebay vagcom cables? I've yet to hear anything other than speculation as to whether they'd work for my car. It seems they are only set up for vagcom 409.1 which I think would support something as old as my 01 right? If it takes a little computer software/driver tweaking bring it on- I don't mind that stuff at all. (I am new to a lot of this, used to working on old chevy's n such. I didn't expect an Audi to be that simple, but I'm still learning. Please forgive any stupid questions.)

Sorry for the double post, would this be a good kit for the tranny filter/fluid etc?

If your having issues with your transmission slipping or bucking and there are codes stored in the transmission, ATF change with filter IS not going to fix anything. You'll be wasting money trying to do a fluid service.

Looks as good as any since Pentosin ATF1 is supposed to be the same as the Esso stuff.
However, since this is a C5 (A6) forum and the kit you've referenced is for a B-series, maybe not so much.
Make sure you get the kit for your transmission.

The OP's problem:
"I'm trying to fix a MINOR slip/slightly slow (hesitant feeling) shift that happens under moderate acceleration"
sure sounds very similar to issues I've corrected with a fluid and filter change in the past.
Agreed that codes should be pulled before any money is spend.
