Default Any thoughts?

Hi! New poster, but have followed it for many years.
I've got a 2000 A6 Avant 2.8. When trying to start it sunday
it initially had some resistance and then spun like it was low
on compression. My neighbor checked the next day and no. 2 showed
65lbs. I had it towed to the shop where he works. Today he tells
me only o2 sensor codes and no compression, 90% cylinder leakdown.
I'm baffled by this. One minute it runs fine next time it turns
to junk. Any ideas?

So only number 2 shows low compression yet it doesnt start? Strange, If all the compression numbers are erratic one of the timing chain tensioners could have broken, skipped timing, timing belts that havent been done like to just start shearing off teeth before breaking. Bad cam timing messes with compresson numbers alot.

Well, I had it towed to an Audi tech's house (used to work with him at the dealer). He did a wet compression check and everything came up. Screwed the plugs back in and cranked it. Sputtered, spit and coughed and started. I guess it was just flooded...

Funny i see this fairly often this winter. I have had 4 cars now, 3 of them 2.8 30v one 1.8T. Just held em to the floor and cranked till they start. The flooring the pedal shuts off injection to clear a flooded engine. I usually put a new set of plugs in, make sure its getting up to temp properly and that the temp sensor is accurate. few of them had no issues i could find, but the 1.8T had a dead 02 sensor, and one 30v had a stuck thermostat. And the owners only drove a mile or 2 a day.
