Default So the RS5 is an Automatic...WOW!

Is the TTrs truely the last RS or even Audi to get a manual gearbox?!?!?

i was actually going to go place a deposit on a RS5 until i read today they are only available in F&$%@& automatic. What a waste of a car

Stupid flappy padle gearboxes. Audi is dead to me in the sport car area.

Hers to an M3 i guess

S-Tronic is a type of automatic transmission that has two clutches fitted with electrohydraulic actuators instead fo the traditional torque converter/clutch pack setup. It is still an automatic transmission though.

S-Tronic for all the RS ... It's a double clutch .. quicker than the 6-speed manual gearbox.

i could care less that is 100x quicker then the fastest manual shift. Are you tracking your car every day and playing for slips? There is absolutely nothing connecting you with the car Ill tell you there is nothing better then a mechanical connection with the car, a slap/flap is not mechanical that is electronic and just plain boring. What is the point, the computer is ultimately in control, NOT YOU.

Might as well just go buy a Hyundai and put sport suspension on and track it, sense all its worth is a looker/ grocery getter/snob appeal. (ok maybe not a hyundai but you get what im saying) I consider my self a driving enthusiast and a car like this is made for guys like me.

This is NOT an enthusiest car, this is a car for some rich guy that has never learned or cared to learn how to drive a manual so he can brag to all his buddies that he owns an RS audi. The RS line was always geared to the true enthusiast and an automatic is not that.

Again, what a waste of an amazing car

Its not just Americans. Its the world. Europeans can no longer get a manual 2013+audi. Audi is only offering manuals until 2015 in the US.

I'm with you, I love the look of the refreshed RS5 but can never get over it not being a manual. When I was looking for a new car it had to be manual #1 on the list. So far loving the Manual in the Q5.

1. No, Audi is not out of the manual tranny business. You can get a manual on all the TT's (not just the TTRS) and the A3, A4/S4, A5/S5 model lines.

2. Since when has Audi ever been in the sports car business? OK, maybe the TT-RS qualifies, but the S4, S5 and RS5 are GT's. A helluva lot of fun to drive, and damn nice, but not sports cars.

I suspect that the RS5 is offered only in auto because Audi didn't want to spend the money to qualify both versions as street legal in the US, given the small numbers of cars that they're planning to import. For the same reason the TT-RS in the US is offered in manual only, not auto.

Well the RS5 is only built with an Automatic in any market, and the TTS only comes in Auto in the States. As the TTS and TTRS in Europe comes in both auto and Manual.
