Default 2.0t Break In

Just wondering if you guys all go pretty crappy mileage with your 2.0t while its in break in. I have about 700 miles on mine. Took her on 2 ski trips already, all highway and i only got 21mpg. i dont understand why its so low. I could understand 24mpg or so.

When I first got my 09' 3.2, it was getting 23-34mpg highway right out the box.

It's a huge difference going from the 3.2 to the 2.0. That damn transmission always wants to downshift!

It will get better. I'm at 950 miles now and I see an improvement already. I got 29.5 mpg (according to DIS) on a 120 mile trip from Yorktown to Levittown and back Yesterday. No cruise control and punched it in S a few times for the heck of it.

I assumed that's because you had ski rack installed and also did up and down of hills driving on the ski trips. Both (up hill driving and ski racks) reduces gas mileage.

i have 3,000 miles on my 2.0T and there's a bit of improvement from when I was first breaking it in. I get around 26 mpg on the highway. But yea, I hate the fact that it's always a gear too high. I'm getting that REVO tune pretty soon so hopefully that problem will be GONE.

New 2.0 congrats. Hope it settles soon.
PS you also bring the Q5 spreadsheet total to 800.

2011 with 8000 miles 2.0t, got 27mgh on highway according to the dash computer on a 120 mile trip.. i average about22.5mpg, to get the 27 i was real light on the gas but did have cruise set at 73 most of the time.

No racks, they kill mileage too much, i only use them when i need to. and no, the hills were not an issue. remember im coming from a 3.2 that used to get me atleast 24, same speeds same driving style and it didn't take 900 miles to break in.

yessir, got a good deal on the 2.0 and a good price for the 3.2, couldn't say no but for the record, i prefer the 3.2

with my 3.2, sounds like with that style of driving i would have gotten 26 at least, i used to get that sort of mileage with it. i was hoping the 2.0 would be even better, time will tell. if its slower and less efficient than whats the point? hmmm, ok enough negative nancy, bed time!

That's how Audi want you to react - so they can charge more for the 3.2.
Things might change if you were to get one of those GIAC or Revo tunes however....

How did they charge more? I had an 09' 3.2 and it cost more than the 2.0t then too when there was no 2.0t option. Not to mention this 2.0t with the options i didn't need but had to get cost me almost as much as my 09', go figure.

i'll consider a tune once i find out if its a lemon or not...

I can say neither I nor my short-track racer wife drive anything close to what would be called sedately... and she's normally in stop and go traffic !

but here is a recent pic of what we were getting around town:
http://forums.audiworld.com/album.ph...ctureid=234605

our break in was harsh - we bought it off the lot, which means test drivers "tested" it - including us...

some really believe in the break in method of drive it like you stole it
