I think that I used chisel if my memory were wright and used WD-40 for lubricate to base of distributor.
Clamp the above base with vise-glip ( don't tight) and knock the end of v/glip with small hammer one way or other way. x19

So your saying to use a chisel to take off the rivet that's holding the piece that's holding the distributer flush? If I do that is there a way to put it back on when I replace the distributer?

The rivet is holding a cover that covers an adjustment bolt. The cover keeps you from adjusting the timing, because Audi doesn't trust you to make those kind of adjustmens. If you trust yourself to make those kind of adjustments, place a thin chisel at the base of the head, like you are trying to cut the head off of the rivet, and you should have it pried lose with a few light strikes. You will then have to loosen the bolt underneath to adjust or change the distributor after throwing away the rivet and cover.
