Oil Consumption TSB
Someone in the A5 forum linked to a NY Times article mentioning a TSB for abnormally high 2.0T oil consumption. Per T.S.B. 101103, replacement of the crankcase pressure-regulating valve is necessary when the customer complains of excessive oil consumption.

Dealer just replaced my oil breather valve and updated the engine software. After 630 miles I must return for a weigh in. I notice the engine runs much smoother, peppy and quieter.
Why didn't they just do it at the 35,000 mile service last month?
Upside was the loaded Q6 2.0 loaner. Great being up on the air driving around the burbs.

Did you complain of excessive oil consumption, or did your dealership contact you directly about the TSB?

What about 09 3.2 V6?

11/25 NY Times:
AUDI Owners of various Audi models are experiencing high oil consumption, particularly when much of their driving is in stop-and-go traffic. In T.S.B. 101103 issued on Nov. 3, Audi said that 2009-11 A4, A5, A5 Cabriolet and Q5 models with a 2-liter turbocharged engine should get a new crankcase pressure-regulating valve.
Audi told dealership service departments to install the valve if a customer complained about oil use. The front crankshaft seal will also need to be replaced when the valve is installed.

Thanks for posting this.
I am bringing my car to my dealership in two weeks for my annual warranty service. I am also experiencing excessive oil consumption. I just came back from a 365-mile trip and used up a half a quart of oil. Also, the bottom half of my exhaust tips are black with carbon.
I will bring this info (the TSB) to my service adviser's attention.

I have complained since 25,000 miles or so. This summer oil consumption became worse. At the 35,000 mile service I complained when arriving with the oil light on. After that service they said to return when the oil light again lit. That was 1,000 miles later. Then the breather valve and engine reflash was done together with a laundry list of engine part checks. I was instructed to return after 630 miles. Not there yet.
My lease is over in April and it is a pain to deal with a car I don't own. Getting the 2012 loaners was my motive for pressing this issue. Had a Q5 last week. Maybe an A6 next.
Glad my wife's 2007 A4 is a 3.2. I never trusted owning turbo's.
