Default Engine malfunction code P0456 - sm leak evap emmissions

Had my 2010 Q5 throw this code 2 weeks ago. SO I reset the gas cap (I was ever so confident in my diagnosis) and told my wife: "I probably fixed it" but we should take it to the dealer.

This morning they called to say there was an unadvertised campaign and required a reflash of the computer.

Just want to pass this on to you guys.

This was on the 3.2L.

I was surprised that they did not send a letter or email for the recall campaign. The service rep at the dealer called to explain that AOA would not be sending letters unless it was a serious safety concern.....

This was a small issue, with little consequences, so OK. But I still would expect at least an email. I mean I get AOA marketing emails at least every week. I'm disappointed by this lack of communication regarding quality.

Update: My 2010 Q5 has had this code 3x with the dealer fixing something each time and swearing they "got it". This included: PCU reflash, evap canister purge valve replacement, gas cap.

It just came back on today....

We will be going back to Flemington Audi Monday for another game of pin the tail on the donkey.

The dealer had the Q5 all day yesterday and could not identify a faulty part. They also found no leaks with their smoke test. They contacted AOA technical help who told them to perform the checks they already performed.

Due to the fact that this has been a repeat problem, the dealer obtained authorization to replace the pump and EVAP canister. The parts are on order so it will be a few more days until the work is completed.

Dealer's "best" technician changed the parts and returned the car to us on Feb 28th. All seemed fine.........

.....until yesterday. The damn light came on again for the same error. Getting a bit peeved that they can't find what the problem is. They will have the car for a few more days this time. this is getting ridiculous!

No worries. Tell them to give you an A8 as a loaner.

Your Q may now qualify as a LEMON. Speak to AoA about trading it for a NEW (trouble-free)Q5 at a very attractive price.

I'm getting close to that point. This is the 4th time we brought it in for the same error. Here in NJ, we are required to have the car inspected which includes a scan of the ECU for errors. At this point, the car could not pass NJ state inspection and is therefore not roadworthy.

I'm definitely going to call them and complain about the car. Getting this whole thing documented will help us in the end. They will either fix it or replace it.
