As Prospeeder said "Audi really doesn't say synthetic is a must for these engine," And who are we to second guess the manufacture
Owning both a X5 and a allroad both vehicles have it in the owners manual 15000Km oil change intervals Hell Audi has a 30000Km oil filter,

If I had been that concerned about the cash I could have bought something wayyyy more economical than the allroad.

If it makes you sleep better at night ....Thats all that matters

Your right, i mean, i use Synthetic in my 93 BMW 740i even though it doesnt specify. Just preference. Volkwagen did come out and say the 1.8T does need synthetic oil, and revised there oil change intervals. For some reason, this never made it to 2.7T cars
