Default Dension 500 interface

To those that have the Dension installed, how do you find the interface? I'm about ready to install, but am having second thoughts based on the screen shots and descriptions of the crude looking interface. I'l primarily be using a USB device by folder structure rather than playlists. Thanks.

I have had such an interface in my A8 for many years and now have the Audi Music Interface in the Q7 - not much of a difference. The Audi system is somewhat more refined (iPod seen as "iPod" not as a disk) and has a better search function (turning the MMI wheel fast brings up quick search almost like on an iPod), but in general, there is not much to choose between the Audi and Dension interfaces.

IIRC, the Audi interface is OEM'ed by Dension, so one would expect some consistency.

I find the Dension interface just fine.

As others have said, the interface is a little less refined than the AMI, but still very usable.

Two main pro's of the GW500 over the AMI:
1) The ability to have multiple sources connected at the same time. I believe that the AMI interface can only have one source at a time, and needs a change of cable when you change the source.
2) The GW500 is a much smaller size than the AMI. I've installed mine behind the in-dash CD Stacker, and thought quite carefully about optimum connector placement.
This means that I don't lose any valuable storage space under the arm-rest, and no practical loss of space in the glove-box.

I have all the connectors installed nicely into the glove box, with the main music source being an unused iPod nano.

We mainly only use the USB interface to charge our mobile phones.

The only (very minor) gripe I have is that I wish the GW500 analogue connectors would have included a 3.5mm audio jack as well as the RCA plugs.
Having said that, 3.5mm-to-RCA connectors are quite common.
