Other (Non-Audi) Autos DiscussionDiscussion forum for non-Audi vehicles
My wife’s 06 jetta recently had a problem shifting out of first gear while in “D” I figured I could come here being that VW’s and Audi’s trans are slightly similar.
When the car is in drive it will not shift unless it gets to the redline, then it automatically goes to 2nd. same for 3 and so on...
If I put the car in tiptronic I can go through all of the gears just fine shifting manually.
If I were to start the car and leave it in park and turn the car off I am unable to remove the key from the ignition. But If I start it then drop it to R, or any other gear then back to park I am able to remove the key?
I did unplug the battery and leave it unhooked for 20 minutes, which didn’t work right away but eventually car went back to normal. Now the issues are back.
These are my symptoms and I have no clue as to how this happened. There are no codes or indicator lights on. hopefully someone can help.
