Default 2.0T question

I'm new to Audi and I'm looking at purchasing an 2007 A4 quattro with a 6 speed manual. I have read online and in these forums about excessive oil consumption and how some cars have it and some don't. Is there anyway to tell by looking at places on the car or engine to tell if one does?

I know this is a hard question to answer. I love these cars but don't want to have to add a quart of oil every 500 miles.

Thanks.

Can you ask/trust the current owner?

Welcome aboard!

I think you are on the right track in doing your research....

from what my limited experience has been, it seems to be related to model and year... but not an all or nothing relationship...

Default No way to tell

I have the engine in question. Could not tell till' I bought it and ran it. Love the engine, but it eats oil. Consider it self - changing oil. Just have to change filter!

Talking

I have a 2006 a4 2.0T and it doesn't consume oil. It never did in the 4 yrs I had it. I have 4837 miles on my oil now and its still shows full on the dipstick as usual and I run the car hard sometimes. When I do an oil change its always dark and dirty looking but its doesn't consume oil. Guess I am one of the lucky ones ... lol.

We bought an '08 CPO with 30K miles and it used about 4 oz of oil in 5k miles that we had it so far. One thing that might help if the car has Audicare there is a much better chance that it has been maintained well. Our has Audicare.
