Default B8 caliper carrier question

What are the torque specs for the caliper carrier bolts on the B8 chassis? I've heard answers ranging from 91 lb/ft to 140 lb/ft (190 Nm).

The problem is, how does one torque down these bolts? The wheel well limits a breaker bar's range of movement. I have to use my large torque wrench, which is ratcheted. Even then I only get 10-15 degrees movement each pull. I'm able to get the lower bolt to 100 lb/ft, and the upper bolt about 90 lb/ft. I can't see how one gets 140 lb/ft without more leverage (maybe I'm just a wimp). I guess a mechanic has the car on a lift, which gives clearance below to swing the wrench.

Also, does one need to replace the washers every time one does rotors? (are they crush washers?) I'm swapping out to race pads and fresh rotors for the weekend, and will switch back to the street pads/rotors the next day. I'd hate to think I have to replace the washer every time I loosen that bolt.

TIA.

Wow, 64 views and no replies?

Well, I've figured out some of it.

- Turn the wheels to the opposite side. Now the breaker bar can clear the wheel well.

- I loosened a bolt 1/6th of a turn, then tried successively increasing torque settings until the bolt tightened to the original position. I hit around 110 lb/ft. This isn't very scientific, but it supports the internet lore of 100 lb/ft for carrier bolts.
BTW, I called the dealer but couldn't get an answer out of them.

- Still not sure whether one needs to replace the ribbed bolt washers.

If they are friction fit, bolted from the rear, the 140 # is correct (same as C5 S6).

Truth is: get the car hgiher in the air to get more range of motion. Its a total PITA and IMNSHO a design defect ( dont get me started on the friction fit).

Frankly i estimate torque. In general, its "effing" tight. Make sure you get it tight! Long story short, it is critical.

Thanx for the feedback.

At least I don't have to worry about it anymore. The TTRS has one-piece Brembos on the front with the bolts on the side. 30 lb/ft or 'tight enough'.
