The actual solution to this matter has to do with the grease not the pin.
100%. The pin must be removed and greased up heavily. It may come back again unless you use some good grease. Dealer always uses the same grease and the click is bound to come back after mid summer and everyday high temps. I heard there is some good grease that can be bought but it must be handled with gloves on cause its rough to get off of your hands but it has amazing lubing technology and holds up to all temp changes.

There was a thread on how to DIY on here or on AZ to take off the under steering wheel plastics and remove the pin and lube it yourself. I couldnt find it but I know its here somewhere

Default S4 Clutch Squeal / creaking noise when hot

This is all rubbish. The creaking clutch is in fact a known issue on earlier model B8 S4. Mine is a 2010 and I had it repaired by Audi on a TSB. According to some searches the TSB number is 2022990.

Audi replaced my release bearing, clutch form and one or two other parts - this resolved the issue in full and my clutch was smoother than new.

Check out the following link for similar thread on this forum:

Now let your the service manager go do a search on the issue - he will find the TSB guaranteed.

I had that TSB done on my car as well as full clutch replacement. Since the click only comes in hot weather its a grease issue. I had a always click and problem shifting when I had that TSB done and the click was gone I think cause it was winter but the shifting was still off. Had entire clutch, flywheel, pressure plate all replaced along with bearings etc. The reason your click is gone is because when they did that TSB for you they lubed up that pin extra as well.

Hot weather clicking= lube not working under the heat.

all the time clicking=TSB

In my case the "click" or creak or stickiness, however you want to explain it, was not associated with weather at all but with temperature of the car. I.e. was fine when car was cold and started creaking when car was warned up.

Audi service advisor explained the TSB resolves an issue with regards the geometery of the fork and clearance between release bering and gearbox input shaft.

New update. Audi performed an updated TSB 2025119/2, installing a new pin and applying new grease. It seems to be working short term..
