Default My Ipod 3rd GEN Will not charge?

I plugged in my ipod and noticed it wasn't getting read by my computer, luckily I have another USB Cable and tried that one instead, still didn't work. It wasn't getting charged nor was it getting read by my laptop.

So I had to leave and I took my ipod with me; and tried my car Charger; nothing.

Earlier that day my volume bar went missing, but I fixed it by unplugging my headphones and plugging them back in.

So no I can't restore it; and I don't want to jailbreak it because I am positive my warranty is still good.

I don't know what to do about it. And I don't have a Mac/Apple store where I live.

If it doesn't charge what good is it.
