Default 2004 S4 Shake but no Check Engine light

Hey guys,
So last week I bought a 2004 S4 with 83000 miles on it well aware there might be a few things that need attention. Everything seemed fine with the car until today when I got off the highway I noticed the car having a shake as I would accelerate starting around 1500 rpms and continuing to around 4000-4250 rpms. Along with the shake, the engine noise seems weird but I'm not sure if it is normal or not as this is the first time being in this car. The check engine light hasn't come on at all. My first assumption was the spark plugs needed to be replaced, which they definitely did, however that didn't solve the problem either. The car doesn't seem like it has suffered any power loss so I am kind of stumped as to what this might be. Any feedback is extremely appreciated.

Default Shake

How is it at idle?
need to gather more info to try and help
stick shift? auto?
possible to get a reading with a VAG com?
check channels 14,15,16, and 17 for misfires.
if no power loss and ok at idle check the front vibration damper, also seen the dual mass flywheel come off center and vibrate the car like hell.

This is a manual car. At idle the car is actually fine. It sounds normal and doesn't jump or anything but from 1250 rpms - 2000 rpms it starts to sound much harder. This happens in gear, nuetral, and with the clutch pressed in. Right when you start to accelerate the car has a hard shake, and has an almost airy sound (not really sure how to describe the sound). When you start the car too you get almost a clunking rotating sound. It seems like the gas mileage has gotten a little worse as well, but it may be because I'm trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with it.

How many hours is the flywheel job?

does it make a clunking noise when you turn the engine off?
is begining to sound like a flywheel.
double check with a mechanic, you may have to rotate the engine and apply pressure from the side to the fwheel to see if any movement.
push it from the ring gear, should be no movement at all.
good luck

So I read from another forum entry that you can check if it is the flywheel by putting it in gear, pushing the clutch to the floor, and and revving it to red line and if it is the flywheel the car will start rolling. Not sure how accurate the test is but my car definitely failed this test. It starts rolling slowly as soon as it gets around 5700 rpms. Luckily I have a warranty for the car to be repaired at Audi so this will not be coming out of my pocket. I'll be sure to post the outcome once it's all said and done.

that's what I thought before I opened the thread. Bad B6 flywheel seperating.

Go JHM stage III clutch and LW flywheel OP. It will shed a few pounds rotating mass (13 lbs I think) and will give you a far better clutch setup as a bonus.

I actually have the same exact problem and the guy I bought it from thinks it might be the engine mounts which I get in today. I really hope its the mounts cuz they were pricey but please let me know what it turns out to be and I will do the same.

Thank you
