2010 A4 intermittently high rpm/irregular acceleration after traffic light
Hi all,
I bought this 2010 A4 2.0T Premium one year ago. Now I have 17K miles on it.
The high rpm/irregular acceleration has happened several times ever since I bought this car.
The symptom usually happens when I start moving after the traffic light. By pressing the gas pedal normally(it's local road, I am not trying to accelerate very quickly), the RPM jumps to almost 4000, but the car does not accelerate that much, and I can hear some whining like pressing gas pedal when it is on neutral gear. This situation will last a few seconds, and the RPM will slowly drop to 1K or 2K, then the car can accelerate normally. During that a few seconds, pressing gas pedal does not accelerate, only makes the whining noise louder.
Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this symptom when I want to show
it to the dealer. For several times, I dropped off my car at the dealer right after this symptom showed up. But they couldn't find any error messages or irregular things.
This problem is very intermittent, sometimes it happens several times a month, sometimes it just disappears for a couple of months...
One more thing to add is that about two months ago the dealer replaced the cylinder head to solve an intermittent EPC light on/off issue. I thought this repair can resolve the high rpm issue as well, but it didn't. After that repair, the irregular acceleration issue came out twice.
Can someone shed some light on this? Any help is appreciated.
