Default SD card set-up

How is everyone setting up their SD card for music? How are you creating your folders, by music type or artist?

Can I drag the songs directly from iTunes or do I ned to convert to a MP3 first?

Thanks!

I just created folders based on playlists, no particular artist. Different moods, themes, etc.

As for the iTunes thing, there are some applications that can convert the iTunes music to mp3. Not sure about the licensing issue.

All I did for purchased music is create audio CD's from iTunes, then rip them back to MP3's, and then created the SD music sets.

I have more CD's than iTunes, but I ways RIP these days because CD's get scratched or lost. MP3's are forever... as long as you make backups.

I just dragged fr itunes into my sd card.

Also depends if you are planning to load the sd card songs into the MMI (memory) jukebox or keep them in the reader slots and read from there.

If you do not make your own folders when adding songs onto the SD card the MMI does that for you (definitely in jukebox not sure if just reading off SD slots) and not necessarily what you would want. Mine made an 'unclassifiable' folder and my songs from Ludacris and some others wound up in there ... not horrible but it's like trying to figure out someone elses' filing method.

If your songs are "iTunes+", meaning you upgraded to DRM free tracks when they offered it a few years back, then you can just drag and drop from iTunes to the SD Card or, to a folder on the card, if not you'll need to figure out which tracks have DRM by looking at the original file. The computer, and the MMI organizes everything alphabetically, which isn't so hot when you want tracks in the order they appear on the original medium. I found putting a number, and a space before the track's name keeps them in the order I choose, as the system will also organize numerically. For my Jukebox, I just put whole albums on there, and then kept my mixes on the SD Cards. The Jukebox's sort options were a little obtuse for my needs when doing mixed folders.

If I load them in the jukebox, can I play randomly by genre?

I usually won't listen to an entire album in order so that's what I was wondering. I know it's a personal decision but I'm curious how others are doing it.

For example, if I want to listen to country, I don't want to listen to every song by Darius Rucker before I can hear another artist. Make sense?

That is along the lines that my MMI did to my load into the jukebox. Putting songs on my sd card - no folders, again, my MMI make its own folder decisions ... it made one for country, rock, pop, rap, etc. but whether I feel that Shania Twain should have been in the country vs pop folder - well that's the MMI for ya.
