Default MMI update or not

The past couple of days I've been reading many threads about MMI updates and read horror stories about fried brains and 2K repairs not to mention solutions from Poland of all places.
I definitely will NOT try to perform this update myself and will happily pay the dealer roughly $365 for an update. My question is whether ot not I would benefit from it. Here's what my screen reads.
SW: D3-HU 6346 06.0.0 0413
HW: D3-HU 6346D2.0
FC SW: 02254AUFC78k0F46f
FC PS: 0010 FC HW: H41

What software do I have and what benefits will I gain by an update?

I have an 2004 A8L.

Thanks everybody.

I am as computer ignorant as anyone on the planet and I bought the discs and did the installs myself. I printed out the step by step instructions that were in past post and sat in the car like Pavlov's dog doing what I was told to do. No problem, and it was easy.

From whom or where did you buy the discs? Also, I still don't know what software version I currently have and understand if it's prior to the 3360, I need two updates to be current.

Default It's a fossil!

You seem to be at 0413, aka 04.13. That would be quite "vintage." I think there is an 05.xx, a 11.xx a 2x.xx, 33.60, 41.40, etc.

You can get the disks retail at the dealer for about $15 if you have the part #. STFA for numbers or I think they were in prior reply. The mail order guys (STFA) sell for a bit less. A paid $10 or $11 I think. And negative on any copy ideas. Not legal, and it also correlated with some of the known $2,000 meltdowns, so not even clear they work.

upgrade only if you have problems. Some people upgrade because their **** about having the newest version. From my experience the upgrades by no means justify the cash equivalent. Only reason I see upgrading is if you can do it really cheap and to get the bluetooth phonebook option working. But definitely not for $365!!!!!!!!

LOL. If was hoping you wouldn't say 4.13. I don't have any problems with the current version other than my XM is constantly searching for updates and I would like the Bluetooth option. I've done the "re-hit" procedure for the XM several times to no avail.

Maybe I'll order the discs and make it a weekend project when the mood strikes me.

Thanks

Default Audi's own documentation says pre-3360 is buggy,

and more so sub 2700. In the sub 1000 stuff they were publishing TSB's saying the TPMS was subject to things as oddball as rapidly flashing light of all things--as though the car had epilepsy. But agreed, if in a given car set up it works, well then so be it.

Post 3360 the arguments are much more marginal, absent maybe connectivity issues that may be improved w/ later versions.

Default Misunderstanding here: later MMI s/w won't yield bluetooth

To get Bluetooth you need a mid 2005 or later with it installed to start. Instead, you have that ET glowing light from old OnStar that is now done with. Typically as I understand it, you then need to look at aftermarket. THere are posts around on this--mine is 2006 so doesn't matter.

Later MMI updates seemingly focused on connectivity more, which unfortunately will be irrelevant to you. If your system functions w/ out crashing or acting up, and you don't lose your surround sound settings, I would tend to agree, leave it be. Your sat radio is perhaps more likely a bad or weak box, or a bad/weak antenna. When mine (also XM) did searching or lost signal even crossing under freeway overpasses as full higway speed, they changed the receiver box under warranty and it was then fine.

Default I get it to at least 33.60

One of the biggest benefits of upgrading for me was getting rid of the disclaimer screen every time you get in the car. Doing away with that may extend the life of your MMI ****. I have the Audi Music Interface installed, so you need to get newer updates for that to work. I also had some spontaneous crashes of the system that went away once I reached 33.60.

Funny you should mention the TPMS. It was disabled when I putchsed the car last year and when I turned it on the dash showed it wasn't working, but that could be a faulty valve. It would be nice to get rid of the lawyer screen though.

Has anybody received a Service Action letter from Audi regarding the ignition coils? I can't renew my registration before such inspection/replacement. Could that have anything to do with my previous thread about rough idle/engine stall which led to replacement of both fuel pumps?

Thanks
