Audi really needs to own up to this and do something! I guess we have to wait for more R8 owners to sue...

Four cans of Seafoam @ $8 = ~$32
Intake gaskets: ~$35
Oil change was timed to coincide w/ post-CB cleaning, so no extra $$
Labor: DIY

...so about $70.

How do you remove it? Did you take "after" pics? I would like to see those. I just got my RS4 last week and this sort of worries me. But it looks like just part of ownership and maintenance. Thank you.

I'll do the valves tonight Scott, so I'll let you know. Last night I used the sonicator on the (anti) tumble plates. It didn't physically remove the junk, but rendered it to the approximate consistency of peanut butter. I suspect the same with the valves. Not a substitute for manual scraping but will help. Once the junk is loose, I'll pull the junk out of the ports by flushing Seafoam (in/out/in/out) with a 50ml stainless steel syringe with long, blunt needle (used for veterinary oral dosing). Then repeat with fresh aliquots of Seafoam until the rinsate is clear.

I call it junk because it's technically not carbon. More like coke I guess.
