If you're outside the Audi warranty then I'm not sure that you'll get anything other than a 'goodwill' gesture. I don't think that Audi have an obligation to fix. It's true that they did identify an issue with certain Q7s that were MY07 (not all VINs affected) and applied a new production process and parts to resolve. Is every original 2007 Q7 going to be affected - NO.

If your car is in the TSB range, it would give you more leverage.

Is there a specific exclusion on the extended warranty you purchased?

John.

Default Anthing to watch for?

I just bought a 2007 Q7 CPO w/ 38,000 miles. It only has a couple months left on the original warranty. Is there anything I should check out or look for to predict if I could get his problem? I woulder if I can look at the past problems that were fixed. I did see the Carfax and only saw two issues that were fixed by Audi.

Yes, pop open the cover in the rear right of the vehicle. Look for water on the metal mount for the amplifier.

Also, open the two fuse panels at the ends of the dash (open the front doors ro find them). Again, look for water marks.

Tested both the front drains this weekend by pouring water directly on the sunroof drains - water instantly came pouring inside the vehicle under the golve compartment !!! I find it very hard to believe that this is due to "clogged" tubes - any suggestions ?
Issue still not resolved with dealer and Audi Care.

John,
I have a comprehensive plan from Universal Underwriters Service. The water leak issue that I am having will not be covered for the following exceptions on the policy :
- repair of water/air leak, rattles, squeaks
- flexible body parts
- any part which has not sustained a MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN
- etc
This was the best coverage policy that was offered by the dealer when purchasing the vehicle.

ok again I repeat THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT by AUDI the 2007 was a first year car and the defect was noted. Audi did not issue a recall and went on an as needed repair. Stay away FROM BELL AUDI they are known for cirtifing cars with out looking at the cars. Call AUDI USA speak to them and be firm also Email them and state the facts. The will honer the repair I got them to pay me back for a 600.00 battery, center consule repair 1000.00, and brakes. So if you push hard you wil get it. Check the internet for information on the roof leaks you will be shocked

I took interior panel off. And i could reach to sunroof drain connetion.
The connection sealing was brocken. So i put some sealant in the drain hose. And no problems.
Dealer guys are so funny.....i meant so expensive.... I dont know why...... I dont like them.

The early production sunroof also had a manufacture defect which allowed water to bypass seals at corners (after drain blocked) and enter the car. How could you possibly know this. The very first evidence to you about this defect is water on the floor and failing or erratically behaving electronics. At this point you brought the car to service, what more could you do?
It was Audi's descision to deal with this on a case by case basis in preference to recalling all 07 production (up to a certain VIN) with sunroof fitted. They have known about this problem for years and I would argue that theyhad a duty all along to fix it or advise you of the potential problem.
IMO Do not accept liability, even for the $208.58 Pay it and claim it back.
So far Audi AG and their dealerships have generally been fantastic. They have stood behind their product, rectified issues and kept their customer loyal.

Bear in mind that water on the passenger floor can also be a blocked condensate drain in the A/C unit. That is a more simple fix but ultimately may mean you have two separate problems.

Thats my two cents worth.
Please keep us informed of your progress.
After numerous conversations with Audi USA and stating my case "strongly", Audi has agreed to fix the water leakage as well as the bluetooth at no charge !!! Only thing on my account is the $208 "diagnotic charge". Parts have been ordered - will post when ACTUALLY FIXED.
Advise to all - pursue issue as much as you can before giving in on known defects. Mine took a few weeks !

I got exacly same problem this morning after heavy rain fall. I was like wtf. I took my car to an audi dealer in Bklyn and they told me that is my fault because i didn't bring my car for my maintenance. Thay said that it's a common problem with the drain tubes and that they get clogged and everytime i bring my car for maintenance they clean them. My last maint. was at 28,000 miles and my car now has 37,000 miles. So because i didn't bring my car for ONE maintenance, this whole issue with the tubes is my fault??? I never knew that there are any drain tubes in the car and that you have to clean them. Mechanic that worked on my car told me that when he went for training with Audi, the Audi said that the tubes were designed wrong. Ok guy at the desk is telling me that i have to pay $195.00 to clean the tubes and mechanic telling me that it's a bad design by audi. If this thing is audi's bad design, why do I have to pay???. Oh they also told my to not to park my car under the trees to often, because the tubs get clog with leaves. LOLMF
