Just heard back from Audi AG (Germany : service@audi.de) - brushed off the issue and referred me to Audi USA (audicare@audi.com). Ridiculous !!! Does anyone have other contacts to escalate this ?
Below is email from Audi AG :

Its not fair to say they "brushed off the issue". It clearly states in the email "A member of the Audi organization will be contacting you as soon as possible."
They also gave you the direct contact. That looks like job done to me!
It is obvious that you are frustrated by the process but hang in there.
Thanks for keeping us posted to date.

ok here is the real deal. the 2007 Q7 had a known sunroof defect the drains installed are defective and MUST be replaced. Since the car is not covered anymore doesnt mean they wont fix it for free. Like I said it is a known defect but they try to pass the cost to you. I had the same problem and was told the same BS I found a little yelling and contacting Audi USA will get you results. You must state that it is a known defect and is not due to "outside sources" as they so often like to claim. GOOD LUCK

There is a 40% chance of rain today . . . Attached images of how I will "protect" damage to the interior electronic equip from water leakage !!! Issue still not resolved with Audi . . .till it is resolved, it will be contractors tarp to cover - have not figured out what to do if it rains while I AM DRIVING.

I see you have NJ plates. Which dealer?

My Q7 went to Jack Daniel's at Upper Saddle River in NJ. My Q7 wasn't in the VIN range for the TSB but the replacement was as per the TSB and Jack Daniels was more than willing to do it.

If water entered the vehicle and damaged components then the seal at the top of the rear drain was defective and should be warranty work.

John.

Purchased the vehicle from Jack Daniels - had a contact there at that time. The car has been serviced at Bell Audi on Rte 1 in Edison since the beginning.
Bell service and Audi USA refuse to take responsibility for repair since vehicle has approx 66K miles on it and out of warranty. Purchased extended warranty upto 100,000 miles . . .they are refusing coverage on this matter also. Went to Audi Germany - they brushed issue off and referred me to Audi USA !!! I have been promised a response BY today - will post further developments. This is certainly a safety issue with components being damaged due to water leakage - I plan to pursue this further with NHTSA , etc if Audi does not stand behind this issue.

FYI I just noticed that you are using a "contractor's tarp" as a car cover. Be careful it does not rub on the paint. I am using it on an old car and it has left nasty swirl marks everywhere it touched the body.

Thanks for pointing this out to me . . . ..will get rid of the tarp and use duct tape plastic liner over the sunroof !! Amazing that I have to do this to a $55K German vehicle.
