Default Newbie Questions - Real access panel, etc.

Hey All!

Just purchased a CPO 2007 Q7 (3.6L Premium). My first Audi, love the car, but a few questions:

1. The vehicle has 18k miles on it - rather low mileage for a 2007 (went into service 1/15/07). It was a lease vehicle; spotless and CPO. However my (somewhat paranoid) wife believes there must have been something wrong with it for such low mileage - I'm not worried as its CPO, but wondering if that is odd for a 3 year old vehicle, or low range of normal;

2. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but for the life of me I can't seem to get the rear right access panel (cargo area, has the 12v plug in it) open - tried prying with a screw driver, etc. - I don't want to damage it, but did want to make sure I could open it as I assume the Nav DVD is there (along with fuses) - any suggestions on this?

3. The MMI Nav system seems rather primitive - you'd think if Garmin could make these for $100, Audi could step up! Anyway, wondering if the DVD is the primary way to update this, and whether the newer DVD's have more of the "yellow book" data - that is, hotels/restaurants/etc. Is there a way to search for a particular location (hotel, for example) by entering the first few letters of the name?

Anyway, I love the ride on this thing - very smooth and quiet, tight handling, and somewhat surprising for the size/weight of this vehicle, amazing amount of power.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/answers.

Steve

I recently purchased a 2010 Q7 for my wife which is used only to haul the kid around and make grocery store trips. We have other vehicles available for road trips and don't anticpate putting more than 5-6k miles per year on the Q7, which would be right in line with the vehicle you've purchased.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Enjoy your Q7!

Our 2007 (purchased Feb 2007) has 19K on it. My wife uses the car for kids - drop off to school, groceries, etc. Simple fact is that some people just drive 6000 miles per year. Given my vehicle had low miles- I bought it b/c replacement cost was much higher than keeping it.

Thanks for the replies - low mileage seems more common that i expected.

How about the rear right access panel - any help?

I also got my wife a 07' with 16000 Miles. The rear gate is electric. There is a switch on the door and another on top of the rear license plate. There is a new upgrade version for your MMI Nav. It cost about $100.00. Just ask your parts department and he can give you the contact info.

Enjoy your car!

Just grab the top side of foward edge with all your fingers tug and squeeze. There are two lugs, one either side near the top. It will just pop out no problem.

the Nav dvd drive is not in that access panel. its located where your spare tire. You have to lift the cargo floor and remove the plastic tray thats under there. This will expose your spare, tool kit, and on the right side you will see the Nav DVD drive.
