Default My baby is gone...

Well it's official, the A6 is now history. We had to push our trading it in up a bit. We were planning on keeping her till after I get my new house, but as it turns out the banks are just so strict with guidelines now that I just was forced to. Turned out that I had one too many car loans in my name, and that was throwing my DTI way out of whack. So in order to qualify for the new home loan I had to get one of the cars out of my name. So we went last night and traded the A6 in for a 07 Jetta. The fiance got this in her name only and get the A6 out of the equation. Well guys I won't say this is good bye, I will be lurking and posting where ever I can help.

BTW I have the OEM euro plate holder if anyone wants it. I'm thinking $65 shipped in the continental US for the holder only, or $90 with the Euro plate included. If anyone wants it let me know.

Good luck dude. I know how it is with the finances and the future wife, etc.

THis is a bit of an off-topic story, but...

When my lease was coming due on this A6, I wanted to downsize a bit on price since my wife was unemployed at the time and I needed to cut my expenses. i wnated to go down to an A4 but I had my wife nagging in my ear that we should be looking even cheaper than that given the situation. I was optimistic that she woudl eventually find a job (and she did) but didn't want her to be tossing and turning at night worrying about finances.

So I was attracted by a $299/mo deal on an Acura TSX. I got it loaded with all the tech goodies so I could at least enjoy being inside it though iw as dreading the puny 4cyl and crappy FWD. In the meantime, my A6 was right at hte limit for its miles and I still had a month left on the lease. After 5 days of having the Acura, some rat bastard hit it while it was parked in a lot and i was in a restaurant having dinner. It had to spend a good month in the shop. For ****s and giggles, i figured instead of getting a loaner, i would just go back to driving my A6 before turning it in. At that moment I realized this A6 was too nice to return so I worked out a deal with the local dealership and got some $$ off the residual and the CPO warranty up to 100k miles. So I bought it and gave it to my wife (she turned in her A4 at hte same time). After about 3 months, I re-claimed my ******* and took back the A6 from the wife and gave her the TSX.

I have yet to find the rat bastard that crashed the Acura...

...so I can properly thank them.

I have no idea how this relates to your situation, but I hope we see you back here soon in another A6.

Sorry to hear - but I guess since she was giving you way too much trouble, it was the right thing to do.

I do hope we keep seeing posts from you - you have a lot to share.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I will definately keep checking the forum at least once or twice a year. We were put in a tight spot. I had already sold our home, and should be hearing from the bank sometime this week if they were going to allow the shortsale. At the same time the new mortgage hit a snag and we were going to be forced to either rent our own house, or rent another house. Nothing wrong with that but I want to own...as I have for the last 10 years. So the sacrifice had to be made, and yes since she was so tempermental it was a smart move as well. Oh and Xavas, I know exactly what you mean, back in December when she was in the shop for 3 weeks I really missed her. It was as if a piece of me was missing. These cars just get under your skin and just become an extension of yourself. I have no doubt that I will miss that car in no time at all. Hopefully I can pick up a off lease 3.0T sometime in the near future.

Trip...thanks for the heads up, I'll check my PMs.

We went thru the the same thing a few years back, try to sell our home and buy one back to back, its hard trying to time everything just right. We pull it off somehow, but much like you, we had to cut back. the wife bought a RAV4 V6. Fast forward 4 years and we are in better shape, she just traded in the RAV4 for a Q5.
