Default Transmission Whine / Noise

Just curious if anyone else has a whine in there transmission when decelerating in a lower gear, particularly in 2nd gear.

Noise isn't really there when accelerating in the gears. Pretty loud whining noise. I figured it is normal, but just wanted to see if it really is.

Thanks

I get the same noise, its kind of a whirring whining noise as you decelerate... but not evident in second gear.

Took it to dealer several times, they say its normal. They say the transmission on these cars is noisy.

Dunno if the noise was there before though but what can I do right?

I have a 3.2 MT.

I've not noticed any such whine in my A5 (3.2 MT).

Put your car in neutral and rev the engine...if you hear the same whine then its probably the chain drive camshaft system you are hearing.

I don't hear it in neutral, but only when decelerating in gear.
