split 10's, do you mean the S8 OEM's in 20's with the paired up overall thick five spoke look that flare out near the outer rim area?
I think of those as split 5's actually, though I'm more used to the "split" or "twin" terminology with the twin 7's. True split 10's (ten pairs of spokes overall) I think of as a Q7 OEM wheel option/upgrade, but that's the 130mm bolt pattern. I see nischal has an S8, so presumably that is on the right fitment track. Are those forged by the way? Weight? The polished 20 x 9 twin 7's are for reference; never heard that discussed or confirmed about either the gen 1 (a different twin/split 7) or gen 2 S8 OEM wheels. Glad to see you are up to more wheel fun again; sounds like just interim though as you get to another level. Another "$100 each" for the wife?

I saw in your auto sig. I'm guessing this is some kind of spray?
E./Covert W12 you did that too, right? My reference point is the tinted ones you could get factory made for the C5 that were Hella sourced. E, you might know those from C5 days [I think you had a C5?]. Any comparisons there look wise as well as how it affects apparent light output? The C5 ones did cut the light output a fair amount.

The tinted tails involve removal of the unit and spraying them with clearcoat that has a little black paint mixed in with multiple layers to get the desired "smoke" and then polishing and replacing them. I have pictures of this on my previous car in my album. Don't have pictures in my album yet for the new car. Not all body shops are comfortable doing this. There are do it yourself sprays available on the net. They also make films to overlay the lights but obviously less durable. I find that with a light tint, the output is not affected in any significant way.
I have had an OEM smoked Hella unit for a Jetta I have had in the past (they are ideal and arguably look better) but alas they are not made for our cars. Quote:

Didn't realize the spray was actually on the outside, but thinking about it I see the reason for an even tint appearance.
Yes, I have/had the Hella's too; on the C5.
