Default Avant owners: easy fix for broken cargo cover "hooks"?

the two plastic hooks that hold the end of the cargo cover (when extended out) have broken in my Avant. so now I can't use the cover which is a bit annoying. is there an easy fix for this or do I have to replace both trim pieces? seems like another poorly designed part. any help is appreciated!

Poorly designed?!?!? I've got 2 Avants, an A4 and an A6, both with 160+k on them, both having carried countless huge piles of stuff, including mounted wheels and tires, drums, speakers, furniture, etc, and mine are perfect to this day.

How did yours manage to become broken?

Kris,
Quick question, how do you remove the rear cargo cover? TIA

Remove it, how? like, from the car? There's a button on the right side, you push it, and lift the whole unit out.

I'm talking about the plastic hooks for the retractable cover. not the metal tie down rings in the floor of the hatch. mine just cracked from normal usage but now they are broken off so I can't use the cover anymore

Me too. Mine are not cracked, or anything near cracked, and I use them all the time. Can you take a photo so I can see what you're dealing with?

sure, I'll post up a pic later. I think I still have the parts that broke off but I don't think gluing it will hold.

I saw this pic of the B6 trunk and it looks like they made the hook as a separate piece instead of integrated with the whole trim piece:

Mine are broken also on my S4 B5.
I think this is due to this winter and very low temperature, road vibration, I noticed the cover started to wobble in the hooks.

Either I will make some metal hooks to surround the existing ones and will investigate if the separate hooks of the B6 may fit (trimming my trunk panels).

I have a 1999 Avant and I desperately need the cargo cover. I just bought mine today and it doesn't have it. From what I can tell, this is not uncommon for them to go missing when they're sold. *grumble*

Anyone know where I can get one cheap? I'm in production and I don't want all my expensive gear on full display.

The cargo cover hook just broke off on my 2004 allroad. I was able to attach it back with two small screws (1" #5) and PVC cement. The fix feels pretty sturdy. I can post some pictures if anyone is interested.
