Default My Heater Core Is Broken

The plastic pipes coming out of my heater core apparently broke and spilled coolant all over the place (just after replacing the coolant reservoir again and sealing the system!). So now I need a new heater core and the hoses that connect to it. Are there any guidelines when buying this part?

I'm having trouble finding the correct part numbers. ETKA seems to have a lot of heater core type things. I found several "Stationary Heaters" with different hose configurations, as well as a "Heat Exchanger" with two different pictures with different hose configurations. What is a stationary heater and what does it do? I don't think I have that many heaters...

I'm leaning towards thinking it's the "heat exchanger" picture with the more complicated hose setup, but I don't know. The car is at the mechanic at the moment so I can't take a look. Advice?

Thanks.

It's in the top image. The middle and the bottom ones are for the Webasto gasoline-fueled heater only available in Europe, e.g. Sweden, etc.

You can't even go by the traditional names anymore without it being possibly made in China - Behr, Wahler, Lemforder...

It may or may not be worth extra money to get the oem HC. The job itself isn't that bad. It's easier on the C4 than the C3.

Ok, so in the top image is it the simple hose configuration (top half) or the complicated config (bottom half)? I need to order new hoses too.

Thanks.

Suggestion: Contact Kris at VM Autohaus in Burnaby instead of going into the US.

I'm going to try and get something locally first, I did find the part listed at the Altrom website. I've been taking the bus all week and I'm going NUTS here.

By pass your heater core for now (connect the inlet and outlet hoses together in the engine bay).

Altrom will very likely = Chinese parts.
