Default The adventures of 2 allroads

"Papertoast" and I decided to try out the Caribou Creek 4x4 trail today.

All was going well until we went the wrong way, i high centered on a rock trying to turn around, tried to pull it off with the other allroad...no luck. then some folks with a 4runner and a jeep came and were able to pull me off in when they put it in 4-Low. I think if nothing else they were somewhat surprised that our Audis made it all the way up there.

Then i cut my tire open on a rock and had to change to the spare in the middle of the trail, and get back to the trail-head on that.

There was a little river that we went to afterwards to do some water crossings, but i decided to not test my luck any further and skipped out on that.

pictures, of course:

They said it couldn't be done. They said it shouldn't be done.
I laugh and do it any way. What we did was pretty crazy.

Myself and 4Ring Jelly took the allroads off-road.
We went to Caribou just out of Nederland.
But enough with the chatter, on with the pics.

Videos will follow shortly.

Heading up the trail

Made it to the top.

Heading back into the forest.

That was very cool, and very interesting..........

So, you had the suspension all the way up, right?

And are your cars stick shifts?

I did not know that if you got one wheel in the air like that you could lose all traction, for some reason I thought you'd still have traction on the other three.....

Wonder if it's easier to do with an auto trans?

Great vids, thanks!

Some of the best footage I've seen on allroads.. any background on the tip/6mt or upgrades? Were those street tires or all terrain?

Can't wait to pick up an AR.

both are tiptronic, and on street tires. i ahve allseason v-rated yokos, and then the inflateable spare for most of the ride back down.

mine(silver) has been lowered about 20mm with the 402 mod, custom magnaflow exhaust, dahlback chip, 00032 transmission coding, and other stuff that doesnt really matter.

papertoast has an apr chip, and im not sure what else.

and lawa, i think we had esp off for most of the trail. sometimes i would forget to turn it off again after stopping and turning the car off.

the suspension was on level 4. but the silver one has the 402 mod done so its a little lower than normal.
no stick shifts here. both cars have auto trans so it was just a simple matter of putting in in 1st and going at it.

so what would it run me to ge that custom magnaflow exhaust running on my AR? interesting to see the subtle contrasts between both cars such as, wheels, different lights covers, color, etc!
so unbelievably jealous of the 2 of you as i couldn't imagine a better way to spend a saturday... thanks so much for the treats!!!!!
