Default Website hosting bandwidth question...

Hey everyone,

I am going to be building and hosting a new website using godaddy. But I must decide which hosting package to purchase.

The Deluxe Plan has 150GB of storage and 1,500GB of bandwidth transfer vs. the Unlimited Plan's unlimited storage and unlimited transfer. The cost is approximately 2X to upgrade to the Unlimited Plan ($7/month vs. $15/month).

The site will be built on a WordPress platform with content, comments, forum, and pictures -- this would be hosted by godaddy. It will also have over 6 hours of video -- but I am using a separate host for the video content and will embed them on my godaddy site.

I am already scheduled to be on a radio program on July 27 (with 30,000 listeners) and will be appearing on two local news channels promoting the site ... so there is a good potential of eyeballs that may be attracted to the site within the first month.

So, is there a rule of thumb in determining how much bandwidth transfer a website needs per month? The number of users/etc.?

Thank you for your advice,
Doug

first rule of running a website... avoid go daddy like the plague.

they have ****ty support, and are known to hijack your domain and hold it hostage for a large fee (last i heard it was $200!) when you decide to move to another provider later.

Hard to make a recommendation as you dont list what the overage charges are, or what the topic of your website will be (traffic)

But, seeing as it is an $8 a month diff, and you are obviously expecting more than your friends and family to come see, just go unlimited.
