Default audi diesels

as much as i like my jetta tdi i am going to an A4 2.0 and looking forward to better winter comfort from the gas engine. if the A4 3.0tdi was sold i probably would have bought it just because i drive so much. drove my old quattro the other day when it was -20C and just a joy how fast it warms up and provides so much even heat-set it at 23C and it just stays comfortable for the entire drive. in the vw tdi - seat heaters stay on all winter and usually set to max heat always.

I think that's more due to less insulation in the VW than anything.. Either that, or a faulty thermostat..

well my 2006 jetta is my 3rd diesel and they just don't develop the heat that a gas engine does-relates to diesel efficiency-less waste heat generated. all of them have been poor on heat from new. in a more moderate climate where u don't see temps dip below say -8C you'd never be bothered by it. once u get much below -10C they are not well equiped, even with the 2006's electric heater, to deal with cold temps imho. the BMW 335d uses a "ceramic heater"- not sure how that works. would love to try the BMW but no LSD and no AWD so from my prespective pretty useless for my climate.

I have a 2010 Jetta TDI and they now have a 1000W electric heater that operates until the engine gets warm. It works well and I have no complaints other than using the heater destroys the fuel milage for the trip.

If Audi wants me to join the cause for Diesel, I'll go all in with my check book today and trade in my 4 month old Jetta, to boot. All I want is an A4 Avant with the 3.0 TDI and a six speed manual. I'll probably never see that car.

ya, i think you'd make out pretty good on that trade.

it seems like most people's complaints are with the heater, which is pretty useless for me in FL (except this crazy past winter). so i'd strongly consider going diesel for my next car

The Audi TDI cars are excellent, and hopefully there is sufficient demand here for them. Having said that, the Q7 is one hell of a nice "SUV"

Have the current run Audi TDI's been suffering the high pressure fuel pump failures that have started showing up in the VW TDI's? The tdiclub page is getting up in a dander over HPFP faiures that have been occuring under the warranty period, and VWoA is apparently sticking the owners with $8k-$10k in repair costs due to the claim of "bad fuel". It's gotta lot of people miffed and I can't say that I'd blame them. I gotta wonder if Audi is going to toe the same line with any similar failures.

Don't forget to mention that one poor fellow who has suffered the HPFP twice!
