Default New S5 dilema

Anyone with an S5 regret their decision due to poor gas mileage or anything? Or maybe your car is too nice to do things like toss on a roof rack and take to the mountain?

I love the car and think Ill end up buying one no matter what but am worried it's going to be too nice for doing a lot of the things I like to do besides hauling *** and enjoying the fine german craftsmanship for what it is.

Cant wait to drive one though! Thinking about shipping it over from Germany as well. Anyone have experience with that??

Don't even worry about it. You'll love the car. Just get it and enjoy it. You will adapt to being careful in no time.

I am still in the honeymoon stage where I just go out in the garage and wipe everything down and sit in it soaking it in. I dont even want to take it out when it is raining but I know that will wear off and I will get back to doing the normal routine soon enough. Dont worry about it, just get it and roll. It does get pretty horrendous gas mileage but it may have more to do with my lead foot.

I picked up my A5 at the factory and played around with it in Southern Europe for ten days or so. Greatest trip I've ever taken (to Europe, anyway). Over the Swiss Alps, across Northern Italy and the riviera...loads of fun. The two month wait for the car after I dropped it off at the port? Less fun...

I had grand visions of doing the same thing next year. Then I learned that you can't get a manual in the 2010 A5. This has totally bummed me out.

For 2010 you can get a manual, but only with the 2.0 TFSI. If you specifically wanted a manual with the 3.2 V6, you're out of luck for 2010. The 2.0 TFSI should be significantly cheaper as well, hopefully $3K or so less according to my sales guy. I'm ordering one today, but with Tiptronic so the wife can drive it as well.

Yeah, I should have specified I was talking about the 3.2. After 12 years in my current A4 it never occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to get a manual V-6 from Audi.
