I have no idea. Actually, I do, but I don't like to talk about it.

The new forum software is not very conducive to how a photo forum works.

Maybe it works well for other types of forums, but the nature of a photo forum, which seeks C&C's, back and forth discussions, etc., worked better on the old software than it does this one.

Furthermore, this place tended to get pretty negative on the C&C's once in a while, especially towards new and novice photographers. So, my guess is that a lot people didn't need much pushing to pull the plug and the software change put them over the top.

I agree on the second, for sure. But if you are in threaded view, it's pretty close to the old software. Actually, identical for the most part, in terms of the flow.

Ironically, ALL of the other photo forums out there that I visit (FM, POTN, ETC) are linear forums.. DPReview is a pseudo threaded forum, but not like this one or the old one..

But that's the point. This is a bunch of car people, some of whom happen to be moderately into photography. Only a handful have any advanced experience. The rest are novice. So, it was the software the distinguished this place by bringing with it a very efficient way to analyze for updates. Take that away, and it becomes a simple 4th rate photo forum, with similar format to all the others, but nearly completely lacking in valuable feedback from dozens of experienced photogs. No offense to the advanced folks who do post here, there just aren't enough of them.

How do you get "Threaded View"? I really like the people here, but not the new format.
