Found Part Rolling Around In Moonroof Roof Cavity, What Is It?
This item, was inside the moonroof cavity. As far as I can tell, the moonroof still works just fine. Does anyone know what part this is and if useful, how I might try to re-install it? Thanks!

It is a spring from the shade on your sunroof. Many have had the same thing occur. I have one rolling around that I can't seem to get my hands on yet. If you are under warrenty still, have it fixed.

Thanks for the information. Does anyone know how to fix it or what harm it may cause? My car went outside of warranty about a month ago. To get it out, what I did was pull the shade close and tilt the back up. Then, either reach in and grab it, or if it's too far back, just stop a bit hard while driving and it should roll out (or did for me).

Interesting. So with this piece non-functional, what would I expect to see happen? It seems right now that everything is working properly, but I don't know if that means that it's a load-sharing part and others will fail in the future, etc. Thoughts? It looks like with the right tools one could sneak this thing back in there somehow, but if anyone knows of how, that would be great to know as well.

It is functional. I can tell you from my personal experience what could happen if you don't get it fixed. The spring holds the sun shade in its track when opening the sunroof. In my case, the shade got jammed and pieces broke off, causing 2-day fix at the dealer (parts ordering). Luckily it was under the warranty but if you're out of yours, I wouldn't take a chance. Just take it to the dealer and get it fixed. I can't imagine costing more than $100. Otherwise, it could cost you a lot more!

Great after reading this last week.. and posting a reply of having it in service twice for this...
I myself had mine come off AGAIN this weekend too! (3rd time)
WTF!
I am going to ask if the tech if they can crimp/close the ends so they won't pop off again..
this is a PIA!
