Default Using hand controls for driving...

Some folks thought it was interesting and suggested I post some pictures here on the Hand Controls in my A5. I am a T-9 paraplegic and use simple hand controls to drive. These are very unique devices but are amazingly simple at the same time. They bolt under the steering column and then connect behind the gas and brake peddles. Using the handle on the left side of the steering wheel I press down for gas and push in for the brake.

These are available on rentals as well some whether I travel for work or pleasure places like Hertz can snap these onto any automatic vehicle and I am off. My previous car was a BMW 323Ci and it had the same setup. I also drive a Ford Explorer with the same type of setup.

What was nice is that AoA has an adaptive driving program similar to other car makers as well... they rebate you up to $500.00 for equipping our car with adaptive controls.
