Default New A6 Avant 3.0 .... instead of the .... S4 Avant ..

Ok, so the old 2007-2008 S4 V8 Tiptronic could do 6.1 seconds (and manual 5.8 seconds).

Now we have the A6 Avant 3.0 that could do 6.1 seconds (conservative) and probably 5.9 seconds 0-60 when its engine gets condition at 20,000+ miles.

Chassis-wise, I still prefer the luxurious A6 Avant.

And I guess this is what Audi wants to happen. They just put the new S4 engine in the A6 Avant and have people buy that.

Even the A4 Avants don't have any other engines except the 2.0. Not even the 3.2 ... WTF !

Default The 3.0 engine in the A6 range will not have the same output as the S4 variant though :(

So that means less power and several hundred pounds more in curb weight in the A6...doesn't seem like much of a replacement for the S4 Avant. Bottom line though is that the S4 Avant never sold enough volume to justify federalizing it...it sucks but it looks like a sound biz decision by AoA.

Default The new 3.0T in the A6 is appealling

but no sport suspension and it's pretty big and pricey.

Default 6.1 secs? If you can't get into (AT LEAST) the low 5s, I would be disappointed

Mid to high 4 sec would be even better.

Default you would have to do a lot of suspension work to make it perform the way you'd like

Default Not in the US. Audi comes out with a second SUV just when the market for SUVs goes down the toilet

Perhaps with the current low gas prices the Q5 will actually sell and make the Q7 obsolete.

Default I'm making the same exact considerations. If the test drive goes well, I'll probably spring for

the A6 avant in Jan. I just hope they don't release the S4 avant for 2010.
