Default From memory...

Pop rear take-down pin...
Pull charging handle to the rear, bringing bolt carrier with it...
Remove bolt carrier...
Pop cotter pin from the bolt carrier, dropping the firing through the back of the carrier...
Push bolt rearward and remove cam pin...
Pull bolt from the front of the carrier...
Wipe down all parts that have carbon on them and lubricate them with the gun oil of your choice...
Reassemble in reverse order paying close attention that the gas rings on the back of the bolt are NOT lined up...

For cleaning the bore you'll need a good bore guide, available from any internet catalog that sells AR parts, and a coated steel or carbon fiber cleaning rod. You'll also need appropriately sized jags, cleaning patches and a can of Wipe Out faoming bore cleaner...
Follow the direction on the Wipe Out can, insert the charging handle and reassembled bolt carrier into the upper. Close the upper and push the rear take-down pin back through to secure the upper to the lower...

You're done. It should take you all of 20 minutes, if that long.

Default you're better off being ocd with firearms...

whenever i start cleaning a gun the image of the exploded barrel they had hanging at the range of my summer camp pops into my mind... no really that related to cleaning but it keeps me motivated

Default Otis

Click the image to open in full size.

I was given one of these Otis cleaning systems as a gift. It came with a CD showing how to use the tools to clean from breach to muzzle. I think it's a pretty good system.

Default I have a "reamer" that cleans the inside of the bolt carrier

it cuts away all the built up gunk deep inside where it's otherwise difficult to clean. Can't remember where I bought it.
