Default "Under Siege" was on this weekend

So I'm watching this movie that I've seen way too many times and towards the beginning we get to the scene where the bad guys send two professionals down to the kitchen to take out the Marine and the cook. The bad guys creep in with their suppressed assault rifles.

They shoot the Marine and then inside the meat locker. And then it hits me... that is the loudest suppressed rifle I've ever heard. They have a big can on the end of each rifle but you wouldn't know it from the soundtrack. Oh well, Hollywood.

What irks me more are the movies that have professional hitmen that waste bullets. Am I supposed to believe this guy is a pro if he's emptying magazines from a pistol because he's not hitting the target? "Grosse Point Blank" is really guilty of this (although the movie is still entertaining).

Default Lol! I think you're giving WAY too much credit to a Steven Segal movie.

First off, "Under Siege" is the one of the greatest horrible movies I've ever seen/owned. Best $3.99 I've spent on a DVD eVaR!

Second, it's a Steven Segal movie! We should feel lucky to hear a track of actual guns being shot and not some actor yelling, "BANG BANG BIGGITY-BANG!" to simulate gunfire. Aren't they using H&K MP5s? I do agree they shouldn't be that loud...especially surpressed.

Also, Steven Segal is just that amazing, so the "professinal hitmen" are emptying their clips because they're so mystified that they're missing him! Duh!

Great rant, too ; )

Default Go take a class on force on force shot training and tell me if you think those firefights are

unrealistic.

When someone is shooting at you every single thing you think you know tactically goes out the window. If it didn't then stuff like supressing fire wouldn't work. Spray bullets down a hall to keep the other guy from getting time to aim, and he'll do the same because nobody wants to get shot.

Even using simunition guns its scary as crap and soooo easy to get shot.

Also I bet those guys forgot to use subsonic ammo in under seige :-)

Default My 2nd rant about hitmen was not directed at "Under Siege"

I meant movies where guys with guns (handgun or other) fire off round after round at a target... not as suppressing fire to cover someone, but that they just aren't hitting the target.

Again, think of Grosse Point Blank where Dan Aykroyd is firing two handguns from the hip and grinning the whole time. I'd be grinning too, but he's supposed to be a professional hitman.

I prefer my movie hitmen to be like The Professional or The Jackal.

Default Grosse Point was a comedy... I didn't really think it was much for the accuracy of the situation.

Default "The Professional" is an exceptional movie. I like the extended version "Leon" better, though.

Man...I wanna go home and watch that now.
