Default Q5 vs. BMW X-series

I've been waiting patiently for the Q5 (or a TDI A4 Avant). However, my high mileage 90 Quattro may need some expensive work in the near future, so I'm looking at my options. I've been a solid Quattro fan since 1984 and drive quite a bit in the snow and with four Nokian Hakka RSis is it quite simply a wonder car! Any experience out there comparing quattro to BMW's X-drive? Word is they will offer a TDI this fall...

Thanks...

Default BMW is offering their new Diesel in the X5 this year...I may jump on it

...because Audi is late to the party once again.

Default So, any word on the X3 diesel for the US?

I know that the X3 production is being shifted to the US and the Z4 is going to Europe, since that's where most are sold.

I was just down in Spartenburg last week and spoke to the guys over at the delivery center/drving school center. I wanted to do the plant tour, but the plant is closed because of the the X6 production.

Did see a new X6 driving around the plant. Great vehicle for empty nesters or rich singles, but definitely not a family unit.
