I know I shouldn't be speed and perhaps I should drive around in 3 gear to stop me creaping over the speed limit..
You are trading in a car because you don't like the spacing of the speedometer?

If you don't mind me asking, what car are you trading it in for?

My complaint it that it's scaled to 180, evenly graduated, only uses 270 degrees worth of the circle AND (my biggest complaint) 0 is at the 6 o'clock position.

That puts 60 mph at the 9 o'clock position and 120 mph at 12 o'clock.

I'm getting used to it now but it's still ridiculous.
I completely agree with every single point you make. The speedo design is an absolute fail in my book. I also don't like the tachometer going from 6 o'clock to 3 o'clock, perhaps because we are so used to the traditional 7 to 5 o'clock setup for both speedos and tachs. But it seems like this 6 to 3 o'clock design is showing up on all new Audis.

But this is certainly not sufficient reason to avoid a car, let alone to turn it in

Get a radar detector. The 6 to 3 dials is the closest the A4 is getting to a Ferrari.

we just got ours and my wife likes the speedo orientation, but i find it way too small in the speed range you normally find yourself in. how can we set up to get a digital display of speed? my wife has the manual and isn't letting me read it...

Push the Reset button on the wiper stalk a few times until it shows the digital speedo. Use the +/- buttons on the same stalk to select what you want in the area under the digital speedo.

I assume this is done through the trip computer? So can be done only on P+ & Prestige?
