Default Just picked up my new Meteor Grey 2.0T... and it had a very slight dent in it...

So I live in Austin (TX), but didn't really like my salesman here. I worked out my purchase with a salesman that I had a better rapport with at DFW Audi. I drove up Saturday (12-6-08) to sign the paperwork and all that... 2009 A4 Sedan, Meteor Grey Pearl with Black interior.

I sign all the paperwork and am checking out my new ride... when I notice a slight dent in the rear driver-side quarter panel. You gotta be kiddin me... I just drove 200 miles to come get my car and it has a dent already?

Showed it to my salesman, and he goes to find out what we can do. There aren't any more on the lot, my car was brought in from port just today. He says he's going to set-up for the Austin dealership to fix it.

OK, sorry for the long story... but I accepted what he said, as he said they could fix it without having to repaint or doing anything major. So I took the car home and am expecting an appointment to have it fixed by Austin. I woke up this morning pretty upset that I did this though, did I make a huge mistake? This was my first car purchase... I'd been saving up for a while. And spending $39k on a new car... I kind of expect my car to be Pristine.

Thoughts? *sigh*

How big was the dent? It's not unusual for a dealer to have to do some little prep. That said, I too have had marks on a vehicle at pick up and it was pretty upsetting, so I understand. Did you have him write in the correction of the issue into the contract?

Any pics? Would love to see Meteor gray pics.

Congrats!

Default dent is about 1.5-2.5 inches

Click the image to open in full size.

When the salesman looked at it, he said it almost looks like a hail damage dent. We haven't had any hail in Texas yet I don't think though. Tried to take a picture of it... but it's real hard to photograph (and man does that pic make my car look filthy!). You kind of have to be looking for it to notice it, you can see it in the glare.

I don't have any (good) pictures yet, just picked it up late evening yesterday, and then my camera battery died today. I should have some tomorrow.

Other than that dent, I'm totally loving the car! Can't believe I didn't really know anything about Audi until a few months ago. And now I'm the proud owner of a fantastic machine

Default if it's really small, paintless dent removal may do the trick

Default I would've taken the car too...

its hard not to after a 200 mile drive and its sitting there looking at you...but I hope you trust your salesman or got it in writing, the other dealership could care less about the dent your dealership put in the car so make sure they handle it.

Default DFW Dealer put dent on list of things they need to take care of

It was part of all the paperwork, a list of things that they are required to do. Besides fixing the dent, my salesman owes me all-season floor mats, the iPod cable, and front license plate filler panel.
