Default You've heard before... The 2009 S5 is a great car.

So I thought I would give all of you my impressions of the 2009 S5 6 sp with drive select I picked up last week. This is a phenomenal car and that comment is derived from 35 years of experience driving some pretty amazing cars (ie. '72 XKE V12, '91 NSX, '88 Porsche speedster, numerous BMW's and even my current summer car, Aston Martin V8). The engine is smooth as silk with a great, burbling V8 exhaust note. The flywheel weight is perfect. The quattro hooks up like velcro through the first two gears making for a great launch out of turns. The drive select provides a cushy, fatigue free ride with superb body control in comfort mode and a sharp, crisp, highly communicative suspension and steering in dynamic mode. The steering gets noticeably heavier in dynamic mode and yet the steering actions seem more direct than comfort mode. This is probably the biggest difference between suspension and control settings due to an adjustable system that I have seen in a car of this type. In my judgement this system is worth the extra cash. Suspension damping increases for compression and decreases for rebound which is exactly what I would want for track work (even for true track work it's still too soft but for the road it's perfect).
The handling is characterized by far less under-steer than I noticed in the previous generation (B7) S4 or RS4.
The B & O audio is very good for a stock system. Voice control works very well. My 3G iPhone paired and works seamlessly.
The nav is OK.
The car gets a lot of attention, almost as much as the Aston which I found surprising.
In summary, all those people waiting for an S5, the wait is worth it. This is a much better car than a 3 series BMW.

2009 S5 Brilliant Black/Magma red CF inlays, ADS, Nav B&O
2008 A6 Avant Brilliant Black/ Graphite
2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Mercury silver/Black Cherry

Default Deak - nice cars.

On a sidenote, in case you didn't see my comments on my "scratched" thread, your tips were well appreciated.

My portercable and FPII did wonders at removing the swirls created by the workers in my garage.

Just wanted to thank you for these.

Now back on topic : SICK CARS!

Default Man, you have 99% of what I think is the perfect garage.

Would want an S6 Avant, and the AMV8 in British Racing Green, but that's about it.

Interesting that you can do a back to back with the Aston. Both are great GTs, but one's obviously more expensive than the other. Did you get the bamboo inlay option? Fantastic looking.

Default Ditto. Ditto. The car is great and so is the Drive Select system; Audi got it right.
