It's really more of the waiting list of those who will get first chance to order. I'm not at the top of the list, and put my name on the list over 2 months ago.

I'm supposedly first on the list at my local dealer. They're going to let me know when the order guide is in, but I'm sure I'll find out about it on here first!

Although not 'officially ordered' through Audi.DE until the specs come in later in the year.

Me and a good friend of mine pre-ordered the 1.8T B5 A4 back in 1997 from a dealership and were among the first to get them here in SoCal. Not sure if it is completely worth it as it sucks to pay full MSRP for a car. Every once and a while a car comes along that makes one do things that aren't financially sound...
