Default The new audio systems are MP3 & WMA capable

Both the CD changer & the SD slot can read both formats. But the SD slot is only on the Concert & Symphony units.

So much for our hidden SD slot speculations.

Default In prefer the SD slot solution. I wonder if the system could read mp3 DVD

If the system could read DVD's you could get 4.5 Gigs worth of MP3s on it, vs. 700Megabytes for regular Data CDs

Default Bummer. Really like the SD cards in the B7 now.

Default It's a convenience but not needed when the CD changer is MP3 capable.

As for MP3 DVD, I doubt it would work because it's a CD changer, not DVD changer.

Default so you mean that the SD slots are not available with the nav cars?

Default True but you're talking about 750MB cd vs. 4+GB memory cards. CD Capacity is limited

With a 4 gig SD slot I could have pretty much all my songs, in one spot, ready to be played in the car. Not so with a CD. I think this is a step backwards IMO.

Default 6 disc changer = 750 x 6 = 4.5 GB > only 1 SD slot in the new audio system

Default Correct. The SD slot is actually in the Concert and Symphony head unit.

Click the image to open in full size.

With DVD Nav, you don't have that head unit.

Default Capacity may be similar, but I'd much rather transfer songs on and off of a SD card...

Keep up with multiple SD cards vs multiple CDs if I exceed ~4.5gb of music, have instant access vs CD change time etc.

Adding MP3/WMA capabilities to the cd player is a nice addition, but it would be nice if they had left the SD card slots on the Nav system.

Default CD's suck. They take long to change, have lower capacity, longer to write, etc

There's really no benefit at all to CD compared to SD card.

I *really* can't stand CD change times in the changer mechanism.

But hey, I'll take it!
