Of course for the A6 it will be stretched.

I'd think it'd be a C7, just for the fact that they are classifying the A5 as a B8. Otherwise, you'd think they would use a new chassis designation for the whole boat.

Edit: I'm sure someone will try to argue with me... so I'm preempting such silly talk. Both B6 and B7 A4 were on the 8E platform so the "B" designation has nothing to do with platform but everything to do with market segment and physical size of the car. "B8" simiply refers to the next generation of the car that is in the "B" size according to Audi. Audi B size cars trace back to the original Audi 80/Fox (B1), then Audi 80/4000/Quattro Coupe (B2), then Audi 80/90/Coupe/convertible (B3, B4), and then A4 (B5, B6, B7). For the B8 generation, it it will include A4, A5, and Q5. Talk of A5 being a 650i competitor is laughable because even Audi doesn't think so, otherwise, they would refer to A5 as "C7" not "B8".

The B7 A4 came out in 2005.5 and will only be around 2.5 years before being replaced. The B6 came out in 2002 (or was that 2001.5?) and had a little more time in the market.
I guess Audi is accelerating their model releases to keep the brand fresh.

It will likely be out in Europe around end of this year as an MY08.
B6 was out in Europe as an MY01, so the 8E platform will have lasted 7 model years. Assuming I'm correct about the MY09 B8 A4 on this side of the pond, over here the B6+B7 8E platform will have lasted from MY02 - MY08, for a total of 7 years also.

You didn't mention B7 for Europe. Did they not get a B7 model? Just curious.
