Default German Plates

I've noticed that some are getting the small (U.S. sized) plates on the front, while others are getting the longer(wider) standard plates. What determines which one they install on the car? Curious as my order went in with the front filler plate.

Default I have not heard of anything. We got the longer one on the front and.......

smaller one on the back. The Q7's tailgate is different on U.S. spec models though and will not fit the euro one. I also ordered ours with the front filler plate but when we took delivery our car had the filler plate that fit U.S. plates.......but they still managed to put a euro one on the front which I was happy about.

Let us know if you find anything out because I would imagine most want the euro plates on their ED cars.

Thanks for the quick reply. I hope they didn't decided to just use the smaller plates for US cars going forward. It appears that it is whatever they decide at the time, so maybe we are at their mercy. If I get any information, I'll let everyone know.

I'm in a state that doesn't use a front plate. Are you allowed to keep the Euro plates?

Default Absolutely. I recommend taking the front one off when you drop it off. We were.......

told that sometimes the euro plates does not make it all the way home and that they can get stolen while in transit, mainly that it happens once the car makes it stateside and the dock workers take them off.

If you ever plan on putting your euro plate on your car once you get home you also may want to pick up a euro plate filler, I really wish I would have picked one up while we were there. Also, in the Mobile Museum gift shop I picked up a euro plate surround that was specific to the Audi brand and name.......it is in my sic pic on my allroad.

Default No problem. I can't wait to see pics of your new S5. I hope.......

to go back and get one through ED next year. The Q7 is my wife's car and next will be my turn ;-)
