though I know little about SC's. From my understanding roots blowers are low efficiency, especially at higher boost levels due to the actual compression happening upstream of the blower, ie. in the intake tract. Other blowers (and turbos) compress partially or mostly in the compressor housing.
Note peak hp and tq at same rpm (4850)... I'll bet there's much more available up top which we'll see in the S4 application (350hp according to rumour). |

sure why supercharger won over Turbo... it could be for cost/warranty/modding issues

is considered a "compressor." Screw-type superchargers have an internal compression ratio, which is what makes them different from roots-type superchargers. Screw compressors are also much more expensive, so something tells me Audi would avoid using them.

I have heard figures that up to 40% of the engines output is used to drive the SC, about 4% for turbo cars, and that is only if they show backpressure in exhaust.
