mid/low 40s if we're lucky. Hopefully these resale values will taper off and stop tanking.

Yep - I'm in the same boat with mine, believe me. Just putting that out of my head and enjoying it.

early cars come off lease. Low 40's to mid 40s retail in a year. Mine has steadily lost around $12K a year but it did start out a little higher on mine used. Bought it exactly 3 years ago at $69...trade in last month would have been $29K but dealers near me only offered mid 20s.

ALL cars depreciate, period. Where will the RS4 settle out in a year? Low $40's. Within a few years, they'll be in the mid 30's, just like E46 M3's. The path is guaranteed but not predictable in it's rate.
You want to see depreciatin? Buy a Mercedes. I owned a 2005 SL600. Paid $153,000 for it, 14 months later, dealer offered $93,000. Sold it private party for $105,000. THAT'S some serious depreciation.
