Default 2008 RS4 cab vs. 2009 M3 convertible

Well folks, I'm trying to decide on what my new open top toy will be. I've narrowed it down to 2 as evident of the subject, though I'd have to wait for the M3s arrival. Any thoughts from those on this board as to which to go for and the pluses/minuses of each would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers and tia...

Default All wheel drive vs folding hardtop is what it mainly comes down to.

Default Edit: Sorry didn't notice cab: Do you really need AWD and what are you going to use the car for the

most? The M3 may be a better choice on the track.

Default M3 will look much better as a convertible......

If you don't need AWD, go for the M3. Just as with the standard M3 and RS4, however, quattro makes the power of the car far more accessible and safer to use on public roads.

Default The 3 series hardtop vert adds not only about 400lbs, but adds them up high, where

it affects the center of gravity the most. So while a tin top is nice, a 335 version is probably more in character with the car. Neither the RS4 Cab nor the M3 convertible is going to scare an Elise driver when the road gets twisty, but the hardtop is most certainly not a sporting choice.

The seams in the hardtop looks absolutely dreadful if the car is light coloured. Only consider dark colours.

And then there is exclusivity. Only 300 Audi Cabs have been sent to the US.

Finally, most bugs will show up in the first year or two. Given the engine snafus of the previous M3 and over-heating problems on the 335, it might be prudent to wait it out a year and see what develops.

In the end though, pick what floats your boat. Convertibles are never a logical choice

Default Thanks to all for you input...

And I guess it does boil down to a number of things...quattro vs. hardtop. I'm an Audi purist given that I already have a C4 S6 avant which I use during the winter however for those days tooling around on the twisties, quattro just give me the security that I feel most comfortable with.

With that...what color RS4 cab?? I'll keep the forum posted...

Thanks again to all!!
